A Waterbury man was arrested on Monday and charged with illegally collecting more than $17,000 in unemployment compensation benefits, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice. William S. Johnson, 34, of Waterbury, is charged with one count of felony unemployment compensation fraud and one count of first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community, authorities said. Johnson is alleged to have collected approximately $17,401 in unemployment benefits from May through September 2020, according to his arrest warrant.
